2013-2014 school year:

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: We are recycling in our room to help make the world a better place.  In an effort to celebrate Earth Day, the second grade classes have put together a recycling program and have asked us to participate!  We are very excited about recycling and helping our friends!

Valentine’s Cards: We decided to make Valentine’s Day cards for the Alzheimer’s group Unforgettable Tuesdays.

Salvation Army: Click on the following link to see how our classmate, Nadia T., volunteered to help raise money for the Salvation Army. Nadia’s Story

Thanksgiving Can Food Drive: First grade collected the most cans to donate to families in need out of the other grade levels!

Veteran’s Day: We learned about many US symbols and then wrote letters to the men and women who have served our country!

Remembering September 11th: To remember the events of 9/11 we decided to show how much we appreciate the servicemen and women in our community. After reading September 12th, we wrote letters and made cards to all the service people in the White Oak area. We thanked them for keeping us safe and helping us.

Coins for a Cure: We collected coins to help support a fellow White Oak Roughneck, Dinah Morgan. She is a 3rd grade teacher that has been diagnosed with cancer. Throughout the week we collected coins to donate to the Morgan family. We also participated in different activities to help rally the community together. Here is a slideshow of some of the events:
